"I got a chance to talk to Rob Sims today down at Qwest, where he was making an appearance on behalf of the team to honor Seattle Public Schools teachers for their work. Sims' mom Brenda is a teacher so this event hit home for him.
Sims is quite a character. He had those teachers (and me) doubled over with laughter when he talked about a rookie "hazing" incident he was the victim of. Seahawks coach Mike Holmgren doesn't allow the hazing of rookies, but the youngsters have their roles, like getting donuts or fast food for the veterans once a week.
Anyway, Sims was handed a plate of something that looked like soft serve ice cream by teammate Chris Spencer. "I thought he was my guy," Sims told the teachers while rolling his eyes. Sims proceeded to pour hot fudge and toppings over the cream, then started eating it when he realized that it didn't go down very smooth. In fact, his stomach started to hurt and he thought it was the fudge.
Next day, Spencer asked Sims if he enjoyed the butter he had for dessert the night before.
Gross.
