How much do you love the Cowboys?

Enough to ... be creamated and have your ashes spread on the Texas Stadium FieldTurf?

The idea might not be quite as crazy as you think. The Cowboys don't facilitate such ceremonies, but it does happen.

"It probably happens and we sort of turn a blind eye if people are discreet," Dallas Cowboys PR man Rich Dalrymple told the Associated Press via the Los Angeles Times. "But we don't really feel it's appropriate. And besides, these things have a way of turning into elaborate ceremonies and we don't want a stream of hearses pulling up to the stadium."

I actually have a personal story on the subject. In 2002, my alma mater -- Ohio State -- went into The Game, against Michigan, at 12-0, looking to complete its first regular season since 1979. The Buckeyes won 14-9 and, predictably, at game's end, the stands emptied into racous scene on the field.

I was down there and, in the euphoria, looked over to see an older man reach into his pocket and pull out a sandwich bag. He walked to midfield, and emptied it on the Block "O" at the 50. One my friends went up to the guy and asked him about it. He said it was what his father would've wanted, given the moment. I thought it was crazy, but if it happened there, in that pandamonium, I'm sure Rich is right to think there are some remains up in Irving.

And maybe there'll be more of that this year, as Texas Stadium moves in to its final year.
