"Tonight's Desperados game against the Arizona Rattlers will be dedicated to fighting breast cancer, on this week of Mother's Day, with $1 from each ticket sold going to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation.
Bradie James will be in the house, and his Foundation56, which raises money for breast cancer research, will also be involved. So I thought it'd be good here to link a Todd Archer column from October, which details James' cause ...
James' mother, Etta, died from breast cancer in 2001 during his sophomore year at LSU. This week, James announced the formation of Foundation56.
"I wanted to be part of something I was passionate for and I'd pursue when I'm done playing ball," James said. "And this is definitely something that I have that fire for."
Through the Soul Survivors program, James wants to promote early detection and provide screening opportunities to underserved communities in his native Louisiana and his professional home.
I'd encourage anyone who can to get down to the AAC to help support a great cause tonight. This one is a little personal for me as well, as my maternal grandmother passed away as a result of breast cancer four years before I was born. If you can't make it, check out Bradie's site to see how you can help.
