"Last week, S Roy Williams had a private meeting with defensive coordinator Brian Stewart and safeties coach Brett Maxie.
The idea was to get everyone's feelings on the table. Stewart says that was accomplished.
"I think he felt pretty good about everything," Stewart said on the golf course today. "I think all three of left that meeting feeling comfortable that we've got an open line of communication. Everyone knows where everyone stands. The past was the past and now we've got a chance to move forward."
What's come clear over the last few weeks -- as Roy expressed a certain skittish-ness about his own skills, before Greg Ellis revealed the safety feels he's a poor fit for the defense -- is that something needs to change.
But Stewart was quick to insist that there's no problem with Williams willingness to work, nor does he detect a problem with his confidence.
"I'm not concerned about his confidence and I'll tell you why -- Because he's done everything he was supposed to do to improve himself and get better and play at a high level," Stewart said.
